ISD, a maker of semiconductor voice systems, will retain its name and logo. ISD was strong proprietary technology in storage, advanced digital speech processing, and speech compression algorithms. In 1997, ISD acquired the CompactSpeech product line from National Semiconductor Corp.
Information Storage Devices Inc. (ISD) is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Winbond Electronics Corporation of America (San Jose, Calif.), following the completion of its acquisition by Winbond Electronics Corp. of Taiwan. Winbond, Taiwan’s largest branded manufacturer of PC products, acquired 100 percent control of ISD.
