 Since 1989, Stern has developed and manufactured electronic faucets and flushing devices operated by infra-red sensors which are marketed all over the world. Stern has been offering basic Piezo solutions for several years. Around two years ago, Stern decided to take on the Piezo technology as one of their core competences, investing in developing new and innovative Piezo products and starting in-house production of the Piezo technology. Several reasons have led to the decision to strongly focus on Piezo products and components. On one side, the market for sanitary products has a strong need for controlling water supply electronically, where, currently, water supply is still being controlled mechanically. However, the need for a vandal proof interface and for a cost effective solution still exists. Piezo operated products provide an excellent solution by providing a product interface without moving parts based upon a proven and widely used technology, allowing a very accurate water flow, hygiene flushes and remote control of the water flow by a building control system. Providing a wider freedom of product design is one of the other reasons that Stern started with Piezo production. Piezo controls can be seamlessly integrated into products and panels for high-end residential applications providing a clean and minimalist look for all kinds of applications. The Piezo technology is also more suited for residential applications than many other technologies, where the need for ‘non-touch’ products is less important than a simple installation and a reliable technology. It is Stern’s opinion that Piezo will play a major role in the commercial and residential market for electronic sanitary and switching solutions.  Sterns’ wide range of products include electronic wall-and-deck-mounted faucets, touch-free soap dispensers, electronic flush valves for urinals and toilets, electronic shower controls, shower panels and vandal-resistant shower heads. Stern also produces a large variety of components, including infrared sensors, piezo switches and solenoid valves. Sterns product quality has long been endorsed by ISO-9001.
