A solar fuse, or PV fuse, is a safety device used by electricians to protect solar circuits from excessive currents, known as overcurrents. Overcurrents can result from various issues such as:

• Short circuits
• Faulty equipment
• Lightning strikes

Similar to other fuses, solar fuses contain a conductor that melts when exposed to too much current, breaking the circuit and stopping the flow of electricity to prevent damage or fire.
