RF diodes are semiconductor devices with two terminals that allow the flow of electricity in one direction while restricting it in the other. These devices are used in radio frequency matching circuits for electronic tuning. The diode types include pin, Schottky, and standard, with reverse voltages ranging from 1 to 15,000 volts and current values from 10 mA to 20 A. NJS RF diodes feature best-in-class diode capacitance and low parasitic inductance, thanks to advanced package miniaturization.

NJS provides competitive lead times, outstanding quality and reliability, secure supply, and a global RF field application engineering and sales team to support a unique product offering.

RF diodes are designed to handle high-power radio frequency (RF) signals in stereo amplifiers, radio transmitters, television monitors, and other RF or microwave devices. They are extensively used in applications such as VHF TV tuners, tunable filters, FM radio, tuning LC resonant circuits in microwave frequencies, RF receiver protection, phase shifters, voltage control oscillators (VCOs), and more.

Types of RF Diodes:

  1. Limiter Diode: Protects the RF receiver from large input RF signals.
  2. PIN Diode: Has a fast response time and can process weaker signals compared to a normal PN junction diode. Ideal for attenuators, photodetectors, RF switching, and other applications.
  3. Schottky Diode: Ideal for fast-switching applications, used in switching regulators, modulators, mixers, high-frequency detectors, clipping & clamping circuits, computer gating, and more.
  4. Varactor Diode: Ideal for applications requiring variable capacitance.
  5. Zener Diode: A heavily doped diode used under reverse bias conditions, providing a constant voltage across the diode as a reference voltage. Ideal for voltage regulation applications.
