ARTIK

ARTIKSamsung ARTIK, a product line of Samsung Semiconductor, is an integrated IoT platform that provides a fast path to deliver secure, interoperable, and intelligent IoT products and services. ARTIK unifies hardware, software, cloud, security, and a partner ecosystem in a single integrated offering. It hides the inherent complexity of IoT behind easy-to-use, open, and enterprise-grade APIs, SDKs, and tools, enabling any device to interact with any third-party device, app, or service. Using Samsung ARTIK, enterprises can quickly bring new IoT solutions to market, tap into new revenue streams, and grow their businesses.

Samsung Electronics quietly announced that it would be shutting down its Artik business, back in December. It’s a decision that shows that even the largest technology firms are not able to hit home runs for IoT projects, and it does prompt questions about the longevity of Samsung’s SmartThings platform.

Samsung Electronics issued a notification of discontinuance of ARTIK product line on December 3, 2018, where the company explains that despite being committed to the IoT market, they’ve decided the ARTIK product would no longer continue.
