Alcatel-Lucent (France) held the leading position in the global cables and connectors market in the satellite and submarine industries in 2013. The company has adopted the strategy of acquisitions and contracts. For instance, in November 2014, the company’s subsidiary Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks (ASN) acquired Optoplan AS (Norway), which is a provider of 4D permanent reservoir monitoring (PRM) solutions used in offshore oil and gas production. Additionally, in order to sustain its leading position and ensure its future growth, Alcatel-Lucent has signed a contract worth several hundred million USD with the South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5) consortium.
