Vishay Phoenix Passive Components, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology Inc.
Phoenix Passive Components manufactured and sold conventional fixed linear resistors on a worldwide scale. Based on two main technologies, wirewound and metal film, they offered a broad product portfolio, including standard, precision, fusible and encased resistors, as well as application specific solutions such as noise suppressors and lighting resistors.
Vishay acquired Phoenix Passive Components. The former Phoenix Passive Components product portfolio is now part of BCcomponents. BCcomponents which emerged from Philips Electronics in January 1999 had been producing the same product as Phoenix Passive Components which was also part of the former Philips Components prior to 2000. In December of 2002 Vishay acquired BCcomponents. Vishay was then producing the same product with the same part numbers under two brands in multiple facilities. Vishay consolidated the manufacturing in Recife, Brazil under the Phoenix Passive Components brand into Loni, India and Sokolov, Czech Republic under the BCcomponents brand.
