RSCC was established in June 1996 through the merger of The Rockbestos Company and Surprenant Cable Corporation, both of which became part of The Marmon Group. The Rockbestos Company, founded in 1918 in New Haven, Connecticut, had already been a Marmon Group member for twenty years. Surprenant Cable Corporation, founded in 1938 in Clinton, Massachusetts, brought its own legacy to the merger. Today, RSCC is headquartered at the Connecticut facility, which houses its sales and marketing, design, manufacturing, and distribution operations.
