Sprague was best known for making a large line of capacitors used in a wide variety of electrical and electronic in commercial, industrial and military/space applications. Other products include resistive components, magnetic components (transformers and coils), filter assemblies, semiconductors and integrated circuits.
Sprague was bought and absorbed by Vishay in early 1993. Vishay / Sprague was an early innovator in electronic components and a leader in tantalum capacitors. Vishay / Sprague manufactures the broadest range of tantalum capacitors, including both wet and solid tantalum technologies. Vishay / Sprague produces molded and conformal-coated tantalum SMD capacitors, as well as leaded tantalum and hermetically sealed tantalum capacitors for demanding applications.
