Belden’s single-conductor lead and hook-up wires, insulated with rubber or plastic, are designed for reliability and durability. They meet stringent industry and government standards. Belden controls every step of production, from copper rod processing to mixing rubber and plastics for insulation, ensuring consistent quality.

Key Components of Belden Hook-Up & Lead Wire:

  • Conductors: Belden uses Uni-Strand tinned copper, which simplifies wire stripping by eliminating the need for re-twisting.

  • Insulation Materials:

    • PVC: Resistant to oil, solvents, and ozone, commonly used in motors, transformers, and control panels. It meets the VW-1 flame test.
    • Teflon®: Ideal for high-temperature and internal wiring applications due to its excellent thermal, electrical, and chemical resistance properties.
    • EPDM: Offers flexibility, abrasion resistance, and durability at high and low temperatures. It’s commonly used in motors and varnish-dipped applications.
    • XL-Dur: A thermoset poly-ethylene known for its excellent electrical properties.
    • CSPE® and Neoprene: Known for heat resistance and color stability, often used in hazardous environments.
    • Silicone Rubber: Suitable for high-temperature applications with excellent mechanical strength.

Belden PVC Hook-Up Wire

Belden PVC Hook-Up Wire is made with high-quality materials in various configurations to meet different requirements.

For UL Style PVC Hook-Up Wire, Belden offers several options in the 9900 series, including UL 1569, UL 1007, UL 1015, UL 1028, UL 1283, and UL 1061. Many of these also meet CSA standards. For example, UL 1061 adheres to CSA AWM, UL 1007 meets CSA Type TR-64, and UL 1569 complies with CSA Type TRSR-64. Additionally, UL 1015, UL 1028, and UL 1283 are CSA Type TEW compliant. Belden also manufactures Mil-Spec PVC Hook-Up Wire to Mil-W-76C and Mil-W-16878/1 standards.
