Resins

From advanced electronic circuits for cars to TVs, PC, mobile phones, aerospace structures, paint, and surfboards, epoxy resin truly has a wide range of applications. Dielectric resins are being used in a number of critical microelectronic applications; example: resin products are used for potting and encapsulating coils, transformers, circuit boards, magnetic components, marine sonar and noise interference filters and surge protectors.

There are several types of safe electrical potting compounds available for electronics. For your next project, consider the following:

  • Silicone Potting Compound: Our AM 150 Silicone Potting and Encapsulation Rubber is ideal for potting electrical circuits, particularly in marine and automotive applications. It can also be used for creating molds for low-melt metals. Once cured, the silicone potting compound is flame-resistant and offers excellent mechanical properties, making it suitable for applications involving thermal shock or temperature-sensitive components.

  • Epoxy Resin: Electronic epoxy encapsulant compounds, like our 300/11 Dielectric Potting Compound, are safe for electronics as long as fast-cure hardeners (which generate heat during curing) are avoided. This high-performance epoxy is perfect for potting and encapsulating electronic circuits and can also serve as a dielectric barrier when used as a coating. Epoxy resins are prized for their high heat resistance, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance.

  • Urethane Potting Compound: Urethane compounds, such as our Underwater 75A Urethane Potting Compound, are well-suited for encapsulating circuits and splicing cables, particularly in marine environments. This compound is designed for immersion in water and is used for pour-only applications. Urethane potting compounds are often preferred for delicate applications due to their elastomeric properties and faster curing times.
