Circuit Breakers
A circuit breaker is an electrical safety device that automatically interrupts the flow of current in an overloaded circuit, in the event of ground faults, or during short circuits. When a fault is detected, protective relays trigger the breaker to “trip,” stopping the current flow. Unlike fuses, which must be replaced after blowing, circuit breakers can be reset and reused. These devices are commonly used in both residential and industrial settings.
Circuit breakers are designed to protect electrical circuits from damage due to overcurrent or short circuits. Their primary function is to cut off current once a fault is detected by the system’s protective relays.
