192317-50 is a USB-6501 portable, bus-powered USB digital I/O device, providing reliable data acquisition and control at a low price. The device provides overvoltage protection its digital I/O lines and a 32bit counter. With plug-and-play USB connectivity, the USB-6501 is simple enough for home and academic applications, but robust and versatile enough for laboratory and industrial applications.
24 channel, 8.5mA digital I/O device
Digital input voltage range from 0V to 5V
Output voltage range from 0V to 5V
The NI USB-6501 (Part Number: 779205-01, 192317-50, 780118-01, 192317E-50L (OEM)) is a small, portable Digital I/O Device. The standard version of the USB-6501 DAQ comes with two connector plugs for digital signals that have screw terminals. All of the screw terminals of the plugs are detachable, and are compatible with a range from 16 AWG to 28 AWG. The OEM version of the device utilizes a 34-pin ribbon cable for connectivity. Part numbers 779205-01 and 780118-01 represent the standard version of the device, the difference being that the latter is programmable. Part number 192317-50 is for the board only, OEM version of the USB-6501.
The USB-6501 incorporates USB cable strain relief and an LED indicator. The LED indicator utilizes green to show the device status. This LED indicator indicates the working status of the device in three different ways. If this LED is not lit, then the device is either disconnected or in suspend mode. The LED does not give light when the Digital I/O Device is in suspended mode. The light is ON without blinking when the NI USB-6501 is connected in standby mode—this shows that the device has not been initialized yet. The LED gives a single blink when the device is working normally.
The National Instruments USB-6501 provides protection against different voltage malfunctions. These malfunctions include overvoltage conditions. They also incorporate conditions of under-voltage and conditions of over-current. The user can avoid these conditions if they follow the instructions mentioned in the user manual. This device provides a small voltage of 5 V through two pins. This voltage can vary from system to system.
This device has 24 Digital Input/Output lines. The USB-6501 24-Channel Digital I/O Device has an open collector default configuration for the DIO ports. An external pull-up resistor provided by the user can be added to increase the source current drive to an 8.5 mA limit for each line. The device has a USB 2.0 bus connector, and has a digital input voltage range of -0.3 V to 5.8 V. This Digital I/O Device also includes 1 counter/timer with 32-bits resolution. The USB-6501 offers a transfer rate of 12 Mbit/s. The Instrument is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages or application development environments like LabVIEW and LabWIndows/CVI.
Without including the connectors, the USB-6501 measures physical dimensions 2.50 in. × 3.35 in. × 0.91 in. (6.35 cm × 8.51 cm × 2.31 cm). With connectors included, the dimensions measure 3.22 in. × 3.35 in. × 0.91 in. (8.18 cm × 8.51 cm × 2.31 cm). The NI device weighs 3 oz (84 g),
