Description
Samtec I/O Interfaces
Rugged Panel & I/O Interfaces Samtec’s lineup of rugged interfaces includes modular jacks with field-replaceable contact arrays, HDMI cable and connector solutions, and AccliMate™ IP68 sealed circular interfaces for Ethernet, power, RF, and micro-pitch applications.
URSA® I/O Rugged Power System The URSA® I/O system uses a micro-hyperboloid contact system with four points of contact, ensuring extreme reliability and high mating cycles in cable-to-cable and cable-to-board applications. EMI shielding helps prevent signal degradation, optimizing overall performance.
NovaRay® I/O NovaRay® I/O offers a rugged 38999 shell in a cable-to-panel design, utilizing Flyover® cable technology to achieve 112 Gbps PAM4 performance. This solution is ideal for applications requiring extreme speed and durability. Additionally, Samtec’s FireFly™ optical transceivers are designed for extreme environments, operating in temperatures from -40ºC to +85ºC, with optional parylene conformal coating for military and aerospace use.
AccliMate™ Sealed I/O Systems AccliMate™ sealed I/O systems meet IP67/IP68 standards for dust and waterproof sealing, offering high reliability in harsh environments. These systems include bayonet circulars in 12 mm, 16 mm, and 22 mm shell sizes, as well as push-pull systems for increased panel density. The sealed rectangular options save up to 45% in panel area, while threaded circular connectors come in USB Type A/B/C or Ethernet formats, meeting CAT5e standards.
ExaMAX® I/O System The ExaMAX® I/O external cable and cage system offers EMI shielding to optimize performance and support speeds of 64 Gbps PAM4 (32 Gbps NRZ). With up to 72 staggered differential pairs on individual signal wafers, this design enhances signal isolation and reduces crosstalk. The system also includes one sideband per column for additional signaling, while Eye Speed® ultra-low skew cable technology extends signal reach and improves bandwidth.
URSA® Ultra Rugged I/O System Samtec’s URSA® Ultra Rugged I/O system provides high reliability with a hyperboloid-type contact design, ensuring four points of contact for dependable connections in compact spaces. The system supports extreme panel density with up to 1450 total I/Os in a single 1RU panel. Its EMI shielding minimizes signal degradation, making it ideal for military, aerospace, submersibles, and harsh environments. The URSA® product line includes cable assemblies, connectors, housings, and crimp contacts, offering a complete solution for rugged applications.
As a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solution, URSA® I/O is cost-effective and readily available, ensuring a faster time to market, particularly for military and aerospace industries.
NovaRay® Front Panel I/O and High-Density Solutions Samtec’s newer fabric network I/O cables and connectors are designed to support higher speeds, reduce latency, and comply with the latest interfaces, including the IEEE-802.3df Ethernet 200G per-lane specification. The NovaRay® Front Panel I/O connectors, along with Senko SN-MT connectors, are set to impact the market with higher-density link/port architectures. These smaller form factors and lightweight options are well-suited for high-volume automated manufacturing.
Samtec’s Front Panel I/O NovaRay connector family supports 112G per-lane copper-cable links, with a 224G version likely in development, making it adaptable for both passive and active copper cables with Flyover styles. This development also includes standard InfiniBand XDR 200G options and modified versions like Altos’ BIX and Cornelis’ Omni-Path Express, offering higher circuit counts and greater port density.
Samtec continues to innovate in high-performance I/O systems, providing versatile solutions for demanding applications across industries.
