The EDS-405A/408A are entry-level 5 and 8-port managed Ethernet switches designed especially for industrial applications. The switches support a variety of useful management functions, such as Turbo Ring, ring coupling, port-based VLAN, QoS, RMON, bandwidth management, port mirroring, and warning by email or relay. The ready-to-use Turbo Ring can be set up easily using the web-based management interface, or with the DIP switches located on the top panel of the EDS-405A/408A switches.
L2 switch Fast Ethernet EDS-405A is a time-tested basic model of industrial intelligent switches that allows not only integrating the devices in Ethernet network, but also managing the constructed networks over SNMP protocol. The device houses 5 managed switch ports 10/100 Mbit/s (slots RJ-45). The patented technology of signal redundancy allows building scalable networks with minimum recovery time and flexible topology. MOXA’s switch EDS-405A: description and features The device is designed in accordance with IPv6 industial standard requirements. The model supports over 20 protocols, including: GVRP, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN — simplified network planning; QoS IEEE 802.1p/1Q and TOS/DiffServ — traffic prioritizing; SNMP V1/V2C/V3 – safe control over networks of different levels. There is a bandwidth restriction for protection from overload. The automatic message on breakdowns will be sent per e-mail or via a discrete output relay channel (1 output). The device is equipped with passive cooling and is designed for operation at extreme temperatures up to 60 °C. There is dual power input (12-45 V DC) with current fuses. Small size conditions low power consumption: 0.24 A at 24 V, capacity — 5.76 W. The metal housing is well protected (IP30) and can be mounted on a DIN-rail or a wall. Mean time between failures – around 45 years. Hence, EDS-405A refers to a low-budget switch class, but provides all necessary functions and testified quality. The device can be applied in various production branches, in oil and gas industry (UL Class I Div. 2, ATEX Zone 2), on land transport (NEMA TS2), and marine transport (DNV, GL). For easy configuration, different modes are provided: a console port, switches, Telnet, a web interface, which facilitates operation significantly.
