AMP Connectors TYCO Connectors Distributors AMP Incorporated, often referred to simply as AMP, was a major American manufacturer of electrical connectors, cables, and related components. The company was founded in 1941 and gained prominence for its contributions to the electronics industry. In 1999, Tyco International acquired AMP Incorporated in a significant deal that was valued at around $11 billion. The acquisition aimed to strengthen Tyco’s presence in the electronics and telecommunications industries and expand its range of products and services.
