Westamp

WestampPotomac Electric has been helping customers with Westamp products since 1992. This comes as no surprise since some of our design engineers left Westamp and came to work for Potomac Electric. After Westamp closed its doors in the late 1990s, Potomac Electric became the only authorized repair facility for Westamp products in the world.

Westamp was one of the first servo drive companies in the late 60s to pioneer low cost, open chassis, multi-axis products. The products were a great success due to their high reliability and low cost. Hundreds of thousands of axes were sold, especially in the machine tool industry. Boston Digital, Anilam, Gardner Grinder, Thermwood, and Globe Winders are just a few companies that used Westamp products.

The success of Westamp was not overlooked by the competition and several other companies offered similar products. Among them were Servodynamics, Glentek, Unidrive, Baldor, EG&G Torque Systems, CSR Contraves as well as many others

For over 30 years Westamp produced many generations of its product line. You may have some of these in your automation equipment: A66X, A651, A652, A653, A711, A721, A722, or A733 as well as a few brushless products. Potomac Electric has designed and manufactured direct replacements for some of the models. We have also done thousands of repairs.

Potomac Electric also offers repairs and direct replacements for all servo motors that Westamp sold.
