Micrel, which was founded in 1978 and has been run since by cofounder and CEO Raymond Zinn, has agreed to be purchased for $14 a share by Microchip Technology, an Arizona-based chip firm. Microchip will pay Micrel shareholders in cash or Microchip stock, depending on their preference.
