Buffers & Line Drivers

A buffer or line driver is a compact electronic circuit designed to strengthen or condition a signal for further transmission. These components play a vital role in digital systems by ensuring clean signal transmission between circuits.

Logic buffers, drivers, receivers, and transceivers enable isolated access to logic signals, allowing one circuit to interact safely with another. Buffers pass input signals to the output—either in their original form or inverted—providing signal amplification, reducing noise, or improving load-driving capability. In Boolean logic simulation, buffers are often used to simulate propagation delay.

Receivers and transceivers support bidirectional or unidirectional communication across data buses while maintaining signal integrity. Variants include open-drain, 3-state, and Schmitt-trigger devices, available in configurations ranging from 1 to 32 channels to suit a wide range of applications.
